Western College's Kate Davis has been nominated on the Hidden Treasures Honour Roll 2011, which celebrates the passion of rural community women volunteers who give their time and effort in improving our communicties. Kate has been recoginised for her dedication in helping disadvantaged youth through her ground breaking Links to Learning program. Winner 2011 Australian Training National Focus Awards 

Western College was announced the Australian Training National Focus Awards 2011 WINNER in the category Community Pathways to VET.  With the assistance of NSW Adult and Community Education (ACE) funding, the College runs a number of programs that engender social inclusion, including the award winning Links to Learning, and has over the years built a reputation for its innovative approach to ensuring access to educational options for all sectors of the community. Finalist NSW Training Awards 2011

Western College has been nominated as a finalist in the NSW Training Awards in the category Small Training Provider of the Year 2011. Along with this great nomination, one of our trainees, Grace Mostyn, has also been nominated as a finalist as the NSW Training Awards Trainee of the Year 2011.

Cup cake decorating - 20 May

This 3 - hour hands on workshop will give you the opportunity to experience many of the professional techniques used when decorating cup cakes. The cup cakes will be supplied so you can spend more time decorating. You will finish the workshop with four decorated styles of cup cakes. The workshop is suitable to both beginners and those who are little more experienced. You will be given a list of equipment that you will need to purchase prior to class. Making meetings useful - 28th May

We have all been to a meeting that has been poorly managed, only to leave feeling it was a waste of time for all involved. In this one day workshop you will cover the following topics:

• Reasons for holding meetings;
• Strategies for managing effective meetings;
• Keeping meetings on track;
• Ensuring meetings achieve specific objectives;
• The different roles involved in meetings.

WHS Construction / Induction (White Card) - 31st May

This course covers the requirements of the construction industry regulations.  Participants can receive 24 CPD points on successful completion of the course.  This is also essential training for anyone seeking employment on construction sites as it assists employees to understand legislation and work with employers to meet the obligations of fostering a safer workplace.

Successful completion will lead to a Statement of Attainment for 1 unit from CPC10108 Certificate I in Construction, CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry.

Friday 31st May (1 session)

9:00am – 4:00pm,   $196 (includes catering)
